2011: Behind the Scenes

Tim and I love being able to laugh at ourselves-and each other. We do so on a daily basis and firmly believe this is a key ingredient to living a happy life. We have had the pleasure to work with some amazing clients and can’t wait to work with more rad people who love to laugh and who love life as much as we do. I know you guys probably think we are super cool (ha) but we are total nerds (you already knew that) as you will see in the following pictures. I hope these photo make you laugh as much as they did us.

Can I have a drink of your kombucha?

My go to move: the “Smash Face.”Tim always catches the best, most-flattering photos of me shooting. Look at me charming our clients:Belly full of grass. My wide-legged power stance. Just popping up between tables and out of bushes. You know, the usual.Shooting in my angel wing jacket??Tim, The Man. He’ll climb anything or lay anywhere to get a good dress shot. Zoolandering.Tim questioning my hair style judgement-rightly so. What a stud. And that is the proper form for a textbook low-five.Whatever I’m looking at is creating a serious look of concern in my face.Tim. That mustache. What the heck. This next picture is beyond words. Just chilling and looking pensive. Best friends’ wedding! We had to compare shoe sizes with our super-model height client’s. Tim looks much less creepy now. Swear.Really, I swear.I’m vertically challenged and Tim is having some sort of episode.Sasquatching it. The man will climb anything. He once climbed a tree during in engagement shoot-with a sprained ankle. We love to jump into our photobooth and ham it up a bit.We always try to take awesome shots of each other. Spot Tim.
His version, her version. And I’ll end with a serious one. Because we take taking pictures seriously and we mean business.

Featured: Green Wedding Shoes!

I am so beyond thrilled to say that our work has been featured for the first time! When I submitted to Green Wedding Shoes I had no expectations of them actually accepting the submission so I thought i’d just get it out of the way so I could submit elsewhere. They are one of the biggest wedding blogs out there and feature work from huge photographers I look up to. So, when Jen Campbell responded with a yes (!) my jaw pretty much dropped to the floor. Not only that but she responded quickly and was just such a sweet person to correspond with. I think she is the bees knees! When someone who runs such a huge blog and receives sooo many submissions can take the time to be so sweet and prompt in her replies it speaks volumes. Tim and I are so thrilled that our best friend’s wedding is getting to be seen by so many people! They did such an amazing job making their wedding a thing  of beauty on a tight budget that I know brides everywhere will be super encouraged for their own weddings. To see the feature in all it’s glory click here.

2011 in Review: Weddings

As I said in my last post, 2011 was a crazy amazing year! Each wedding we photographed was different in its own rad way. Each couple was so much fun to get to know and their weddings were so much fun to be a part of. My eyes got teary at each one and I hope that never changes. We also laughed and danced at each one and I hope that never changes as well! I’ve put together some of our favorite wedding photographs from last year-enjoy!

Ring shot!

Moments before the First Look…Sweet moments like these are why I adore First Looks!Sisters before the ceremony.Tears of happiness.Another sister moment. This car was a perfect backdrop for this post ceremony kiss. And these getaway looks were freaking perfect!

We had the pleasure of doing TWO styled shoots with the incredible Kaleb Norman James. This first one was a Beachy inspired wedding shoot:

And this was an old world carnival styled wedding shoot! SO much fun!

Just a couple of brothers applying their Jr. Detective badges pre-ceremony.

And some bridesmaids hanging out in preparation for that same ceremony.Speechless.Alleys can be great bridal party locations- especially when you have great backlighting and a cute pooch to complete it.
This wedding holds special significance for us–its our best friends! I love this shot of Sara getting her make-up applied.First Looks are the best! Especially when the groom has to shut his eyes because he can’t handle how beautiful his bride looks =)This is what I call wedding style!Cool story: This building burned down and we thought it would be a perfect location for some pictures. It was! And it was torn down days later!Only my bestie could turn a plain old church auditorium into this:Another bestie wedding!
The desert is beautiful and when you combine that with a bride as stunning as Krystal you really can’t go wrong. These guys are pretty great:Another favorite bridal portrait:And bridal feet! The Villa Del Sol made for some great portrait locations.Tim shot this spectacular shot of the reception. Do you see that crescent moon in the background?? Tim is like the Ansel Adams of the wedding photography world! ;)Getting a little help with the dress.Proud mama.Another favorite bridal portrait. I think it would be impossible to be in a bad mood when photographing so much happiness. I’ll end with this hilarious and awesome photo of Paul dancing because it makes me smile =)
Next up: Some behind the scenes photos!

2011 in Review: Engagements

2011 was one of the busiest, craziest, best years of our lives. We got engaged, planned a wedding, got married, honeymooned, moved into a house, learned how to live with each other, had so much fun, got to know each other and God better, and got a puppy, all the while having our busiest year as wedding photographers to date! It was such an amazing year and we can’t say thank you enough to the couples who allowed us to document their weddings. You guys are seriously the best! We came away with some great friends and are so excited for what 2012 has in store. As we get ready for this year’s engagement shoots here is a look back on some of our favorite engagement moments from 2011:

Stay tuned for our favorite 2011 wedding moments!

Brides Magazine

When my best friend, Sara Lucero, told me that Brides magazine wanted to include a little feature on her and Steve’s wedding (which we shot in August) in their December issue I was super excited! Even more excited when I found out that they would be using one of our photographs from her wedding for the article! It’s not quite a feature but our photo is in one of the largest bridal magazines in the US-not too shabby! Of course I bought a copy as soon as it came out and had to document our little photo on page 286.
