Long Beach Engagement: Jonathan and Clarissa

Jonathan and Clarissa met at Starbucks. Jonathan manages the store and Clarissa was a regular. She would come in everyday and while Jonathan was quite taken with her he didn’t make any sort of move as he had to maintain a professional work environment, of course. Over the course of a full year they would see each other. Clarissa would order, Jonathan would make her drink, and friendly conversation would ensue. One day a breakthrough finally came in their barista/customer relationship: Jonathan and Clarissa had been going to the SAME church the entire time! As their church is fairly massive, they never met or saw each other at all. One would enter from the right and sit there, the other from the left. Pretty crazy right? After that point things happened very quickly and they fell head over heals in love with each other. Their wedding is this June (the week after ours!) and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be a part of it.
Its not too often that you meet a couple whose love is as sweet and open as theirs. It was a privilege to be able to document and makes me so thankful that I do what I do. I hope you enjoy the photos as much as I did taking them!

We walked along beautiful paths in a nature center, found a bright turquoise wall to photograph in front of, went to a park and had a picnic, and saw lots of cute critters along the way. Here are a few of my favorites from the day:

I think Jonathan and Clarissa might be part time models. They’re gorgeous right?

I love the sweetness of this:

This was such a beautiful pathway in the El Dorado Nature Center in Long Beach.

This little guy posed for my camera =)

Matching Toms get major bonus points ;)

Jonathan and Clarissa carefully considered everything from their outfits to the locations and props. I think it really shows who they are as a couple and creates a lot of interest. Love that they brought a picnic basket with scrabble, books, and delicious kombucha.

The weather was perfect for a relaxing cuddle under the tree.

Clarissa! You are so beautiful and project such poised confidence in front of the camera. This is one of my favorite shots.

And Jonathan was quite handsome, himself.

Clarissa loves birds so I made sure to take plenty of bird shots. That goose wanted to get me!

Next we headed to Naples in Belmont Shore, Long Beach. I can’t believe we have so many amazing little gems in Southern California. I can see why people never leave.

Jonathan and Clarissa, Tim and I had so much fun spending the day with you. We are so happy to have clients like you and can not wait for your wedding day. I know that it will be just perfect.

Jess, I think these might be the best photos you’ve done so far. You’ve successfully captured “emotion” and it shows in so many of these photos. I love the pictures with all the gray colors. Congratulations on such fine photos. And as for their story, God does work in mysterious ways!

UCLA Engagment: Benj and Rocio

I first came in contact with Benj and Rocio after a mutual friend (and my former professor), Max Gerber, referred them to me. Max happens to be an amazing portrait photographer so you should definitely check out his work here. Anyhoo, Benj and Rocio are a super cool couple!

We met up with them earlier that day for their wedding site visit and they explained their vision for their big day as we walked the grounds. The wedding will take place at Orcutt Ranch this May. It is so gorgeous! They are definitely a super thoughtful yet easy going couple so I can’t wait to see what they create.

Next, Tim and I met up with them at the UCLA sculpture garden. I always enjoy shooting there, some of you may remember my sister’s graduation shoot. Benj is a UCLA alum so it was quite fitting. The weather was beautiful and so was the light! More importantly, Benj and Rocio were so sweet together.

Benj and Rocio, Thank you so much for choosing us to be your wedding photographers. Getting to document such a loving and genuine couple makes me feel very lucky. I hope you enjoy the photos, you guys rocked it out!

Huntington Library Engagement: Shawn and Krystal

I am so excited to show off this shoot! It was my first time going to the Huntington Library, believe it or not, and I absolutely fell in love with the place. Not to mention the rad couple we got to photograph. In case you’ve never been, the Huntington Library is a HUGE garden. It has a sub-tropical area, Australian garden, Japanese garden, and more! Everywhere we looked was beautiful. Tim and I had so much fun photographing our good friends, Shawn and Krystal. Tim even had a sprained ankle and walked around on a crutch! He is such a trooper. We are so looking forward to Shawn and Krystal’s wedding in August. And in case you haven’t seen, we photographed these two for a “Just Because” shoot not too long ago which you can see here.

Thanks again Shawn and Krystal for being wonderful, fun people and allowing us to take lots of pictures of you ;) I hope you enjoy the photos!

This is my favorite =)

My New Video is Here!

I am so excited to finally be debuting my new promo video which was created by Stacy and Chloe of Cloudy Day Pictures. These amazing ladies blew me away with their creativity. I had a general idea of what I was hoping for and they took that and ran with it making something that far exceeded my expectations. These two are extremely fun to be around and I just could not have asked for anything better.

The girls followed me on an engagement shoot which took place in Los Angeles, California on top of the historic Hotel Rosslyn. We also walked around downtown for some fun, colorful shots. This is definitely one of my favorite shoots to date so I hope you enjoy.

Thanks for stopping by my site! Please feel free to leave a comment or contact me through the contact form.
