Southern California Backyard Wedding: Shawn and Krystal

Have you ever looked up because you thought someone was staring at you only to lock eyes with someone who was indeed staring right at you? Krystal was sitting in class one day when she felt the gaze of someone and looked up to find that it was Shawn. This happened several times before they finally ended up talking. Shawn was quite taken with her beauty from the start. And while her physical beauty is what attracted Shawn to her initially, it was her inner beauty that caused him to fall truly in love with her. And Krystal fell in love with Shawn too! I love hearing Shawn and Krystal talk about each other. Their faces light up and they just seem so proud to call each other their other half. Like they won the lottery and can’t believe their luck to have found each other. It was truly an honor to have been chosen to document they day they became husband and wife.

Shawn and Krystal got married in the church they attend and held their reception in a friend’s super cute backyard. I love what they did with the space they had-twinkle lights strung across the whole backyard with simple florals and lots of friends and family to celebrate with. We started with getting ready preparations at their respective parents’ houses.

Ps- Don’t forget to click the link to see the hilarious and fun photo booth action at the end of the post. You won’t regret it!

Krystal is seriously one of the most entirely beautiful people I have ever met. She is the epitome of class and sweetness. Special thanks to Heather Begley for doing an excellent job with Krystal’s and her bridesmaids’ make-up! Proud mama.I have a feeling there will be some girls scheduling hair appointments once they see how freakishly cute Krystal’s short hair is. Shawn is quite a handsome gent himself and he has great style!I love these shots Tim captured of Shawn’s brother helping him get ready. The bride hidden away in preparation for the First Look.Should I say on EVERY wedding post that has a First Look how much I love First Looks? Yes? Ok. I adore them. They make my heart happy and make the timeline oh so smooth. Plus, the bride and groom get to have the most precious time alone together to just soak in what is about to happen.
Rawr.Just married! We drove to an area near the reception site to take some desert portraits. Did you know that I love the desert? Its one of my favorite places in the world and I think it is quite beautiful. Krystal! You are stunning!Favorite. Can I say that I love that I’m seeing more hats at weddings? I love that the royal wedding is bringing that back =)Sisters.String lights!“Enjoy this moment because it is the last time you will have the upper hand.” -the groom’s brother. SO true! ;)Tim got up on the roof to take these dance shots-which I love! How cute is their first dance?

Krystal and Shawn, we love you guys so much! Thank you again for picking us to be your wedding photographers. It was such a great day and we hope you are thoroughly enjoying marriage thus far. Here’s to a lifetime of happiness for you too!

But wait-there’s more! Please click this link to see Shawn and Krystal’s awesome photo booth!

Beachy Styled Wedding

Remember that time I got married?? Well I teamed up with my unbelievably talented wedding florist and friend Kaleb on this be beachy styled wedding shoot and I could not be more pleased. Kaleb has been designing events since he was in high school and has a huge career in front of him. Kaleb came up with a be beachy styled wedding. Every detail of this shoot was amazing from the labels on the drinks to the table settings. Kaleb flawlessly executed this sweat beach wedding and I think a lot of brides will be inspired by the neutral palette with pops of pink. I’m thrilled to share this with you and I hope you enjoy!

Please be sure to check out Kaleb’s blog! Another huge thank you goes out to our models, Crystal and Michael. They made the shoot come to life and really rocked it out!

I absolutely loved the models’ wedding looks! Crystal’s hair, necklace, and dress were perfect. And check out her bouquet-a simple and beautiful branch of orchids!

Hello, gorgeous!

Love the pink umbrella!

The table set up for the reception was gorgeous! I loved the seashell details, the big candle stick, the brightly colored drinks, and the beautiful invitations.
Chinese lanterns strewn on the ground. Yes, please!

First dance on the beach at sunset-so romantic!

*Love*

Thanks again, Kaleb for your vision, creativity, and the fun time we had while doing this shoot! I can only hope to work with you in the future when you are wildly famous! ;)

Los Angeles Union Station Engagement: Crystal and Craig

Crystal and Craig have a pretty cool story. Craig had just moved back to his hometown of Santa Clarita from living on the East Coast. He decided that he wanted to meet someone from outside of his small town and so he decided to give eHarmony a shot. At first he gave the site a search radius of 50 miles but that yielded no appealing matches for Craig. So, he decided to increase the search radius to 75 miles. Meanwhile, a girl named Crystal was being prompted to try eHarmony by a well-meaning Aunt of hers and she finally decided to give in and see what the site had to offer. As it turns out, Craig had increased his search radius just enough to include a girl named Crystal 72 miles away from him. Yep, 72! And the rest, as they say, is history.

Crystal and Craig, we could not be more pleased to be your wedding photographers! At your engagement shoot, it felt like we were hanging out with old friends. You guys are fun, goofy, and easy-going and we think you’re just great. We hope you enjoy the pictures!

When Crystal and Craig told me they decided on Union Station in Los Angeles I was thrilled. I had never shot there before and I was excited to photograph somewhere new with such great architecture and history.

Crystal’s sister gave her some very cute suitcases to use during the shoot and I just love how they turned out.

Crystal made this adorable heart sign. Gotta love a crafty bride! I can’t wait to see what she comes up with for her awesome wedding.

And these shoes. Gorgeous! Another big thanks to Crystal’s sister for those.

Oh, hello.

The backlit photos were taken by Tim and the front lit ones were taken by me. I love working with my husband.

Funny story about the room on the right. Its completely closed to the public. However, I had seen a few pictures online that were taken in that room so I was determined to talk the security guard into letting us use it. I pleaded and said “Just two shots. I’ll be really quick!” He relented and I may have gotten a little carried away. Totally worth it though.

Then we decided to head outside and on to Olvera Street after a quick outfit change.

Crystal can work it out!

We tried something a little different here and pulled out the off camera lighting. I really like how it turned out. What do you think?

Then for some final nighttime shots with the beautiful cityscape in the background.

Crystal and Craig, we hope you enjoyed the pictures and we can’t wait for your wedding!

Great pics! I love them all…

Grandma D.September 8, 2011 - 5:32 pm

Great pics in a great location. Having taken the train several times to Union Station, I recognize the locations which is cool. She is a beautiful girl and he is a happy guy – it’s so hard for me to imagine meeting someone online like that – good for them! I love the tunnel shot, all white and they provide the color! And good for you talking your way into an off limits room – who woulda thought!! :)

CrystalSeptember 8, 2011 - 12:21 pm

Oh my…these are gorgeous. You have completely exceeded my expectations. We loved working with you and Tim. You made this one of the most exciting experiences of our “couple” life. For Craig Timchak to say he enjoyed being in front of the camera really says a lot! Thank you both. We can’t wait for the wedding :)

Sara LuceroSeptember 8, 2011 - 10:09 am

What a fun location! I love that part of L.A.! Bet you had fun exploring! And thats so tight you guys got in that room! I’ve walked passed it before and it’s always so lonely and empty… not anymore! you fools brought it to LIFE! :) Those were my favorite of the bunch.
Personally, i still can’t get into off-camera lighting, but i LOVE what you 2 did. very nice. very natural.

JennaSeptember 8, 2011 - 10:04 am
