Our little man! (Tim’s first attempt at a blog post)

So, our lives have changed forever. Our little man, Elijah, is here and we couldn’t be more happy to be parents! Although we have little to no knowledge of what parenting entails, Google searches and frantic phone calls to our loved ones who’ve done this before have been our saving graces. I for one know that I have been growing more and more in love with this little dude since his birth, which, by the way, Jessica did a completely awesome job with! Maybe she’ll post something on that whole experience another time :) Nights have been getting better and better, he is a big time wiggle worm, and somehow gets a hand or both out of our best attempts of swaddling. He is also definitely a high need (reflux :/) baby which I hear from all the rumors, makes for the best of people ;) So, without further adieu, here are a few pics of his first bath time and some more we took at his one-month mark!

Here’s the one month little shoot we did of him (aka proof of his wiggliness and his out of control-cute facial expressions).

Oh, and there’s him at the end going from “completely happy and content” to “something is definitely wrong, good luck with figuring out what…”

If you’re wondering who he looks like, we looked through baby pictures and he is hands down a little replica of his daddy :)

Our Wedding: Part One

It’s Valentine’s day today so I thought it would be nice to look back on one of my favorite days, our wedding! I’m going to have to do it in three parts, though. There were just too many favorites for me to narrow it down into one little post! Our wedding day was such a great day. We were both just so happy that day and enjoyed every minute of it. We never felt stressed or rushed or anything negative. We just felt pure excitement and love and our friends and family all reflected that as well. One thing that I think made our day so special is that we were really focused on the fact that we were getting MARRIED that day. The day wasn’t just about the details, or the dress, or the ceremony, etc. Those things mattered and were awesome but we knew that our marriage was the most important thing. I can’t even describe to you how happy we were to finally be married and look forward to spending the rest of our lives together. And we are so grateful that we have these photos to look back on and remind us of all of the amazing moments we had and emotions we felt on the day we became husband and wife. Thank you so much to our friends, Jake and Jessica Mariano for all of these beautiful photos! We will treasure them forever.

I’ll start with the getting ready, First Look, and portraits.

My dress was so special in that it was handmade by our friend, Dee Wood! I never thought I would have a handmade dress so having that experience was amazing. She took all of the things I liked about different dresses and made it into one super dress. I absolutely adore it and still cant believe it was made especially for me!I love this picture of my dear friend Shasta curling my beautiful mom’s hair. My bridesmaids were amazing…
I think this is the moment I burst into tears. My sister-in-law and my nephews. Love this photo.And my dashing groom getting ready for our First Look.His best friend Riley was so awesome that day! We were truly surrounded by the best people in the world and they truly made our day happen.Gosh he is handsome! So excited as I walk to meet my groom.First Looks are incredible. I can’t say enough how much we love them. And we know from first hand experience. We just loved that wow moment and then being able to just soak in the fact that we were about to say I do! It was a precious time and allowed both of us to just relax and settle into the excitement of the day.Every bride hopes her groom looks at her like this… :)Just happy.

I love my husband so much! And it just keeps growing as time goes by. There are so many more photos I want to share but they will have to wait for another day! I need to go make out with my husband now! Happy Valentine’s Day! xoxo

Ace Hotel Wedding: Rachel and Andrew

We knew Rachel and Andrew’s wedding day would be a perfectly put together and wonderfully stylish representation of their love and it was just that! Andrew went to school for and is in a design career working for an architectural firm and Rachel is just over the top cute with her great sense of style. They chose to have their wedding at the totally rad Ace Hotel in Palm Springs, California which was the perfect backdrop for their modern and fun nuptials. I loved the color palette of gold and magenta and the subtle way they incorporated it into their design elements. These guys are just the epitome of style! And to top it all off they are rad people with super warm, genuine hearts and we are honored to call them friends. Here are a few of our favorite photos from their wedding day:

The day was absolutely beautiful even though the 24/7 sunshine they expected to have in Palm Springs was replaced by a cloudy sky and some light sprinkles. It only added to the beauty of the day.

Rachel’s family is so sweet and they have a great love for their family history and traditions. This broach belonged to her grandmother and she wore it in honor of her.Love those gold, sparkly, wedding shoes.Succulent boutonnieres! Rachel and Andrew’s First Look was adorable. Andrew’s reaction is priceless and I’m sure Rachel just loved seeing his face in that moment.The ring attached to Andrew’s boutonniere is another family heirloom. Happiness.Hummingbirds have special meaning for Rachel’s family as well in that they represent her grandmother. Amazingly, this hummingbird arrived during the ceremony and seemed to watch the events unfolding. Their chuppah was simple and awesome with those big white baloons!Their dog, Neville, made a special appearance for some portraits. Wedding rings and a necklace with Rachel’s new initials.Rachel and Andrew decided to take some time to sneak away and be alone together before heading to the reception which we absolutely love. That heart is a totally custom design created by Andrew, which was used in his proposal to Rachel in poster form, and was used throughout their wedding. Their wedding topper was super, and of course Neville was included!

We just love it when couples are this present and experience this much joy on their wedding day!I love this shot of Rachel’s dad and his twin brother celebrating with cigars :)And Tim gets credit for this incredibly rad photo. That boy is talented, I tell ya! ;)

We are so blessed to have been a part of this wedding! It was such a great last wedding before the baby comes! Thank you so much, Rachel and Andrew, for just being you. You guys are the bees knees and made us so happy to be wedding photographers. We hope you are enjoying wedded bliss!

2012 in Review: Engagements

Wow, 2012 was amazing! We worked with so many absolutely wonderful people and we are so thankful for that. I loved looking back on the year and picking out my favorite engagement images- it was hard to narrow it down. Each of our couples was so unique and brought their own personalities to their shoots. We loved the thought that went into each and appreciate all of their special kinds of love! We hope you enjoy some of our favorite engagement photos from 2012!

10 Things About Tim on His 28th Birthday

It is my amazing, wonderful husband’s birthday today! I can’t believe how time flies and how things have changed since we got married. We have both grown immensely and learned so much from each other. I thank God every day that I get to be Tim’s wife. He is literally the best. So, I thought I would share 10 things about Tim on his 28th birthday. Enjoy!

1. He is super funny. He has such an off the wall sense of humor people can’t help but crack up. This guy doesn’t need caffeine or anything else to let loose, he just loves making people laugh. And will do almost anything to make that happen ;)

2. He can LITERALLY fix anything. His brain loves to figure out how things work and also figure out what is wrong with something. I have to constantly remind myself to not take for granted that I don’t have to call handymen, mechanics, painters, or any other fix-it person, ever.

3. He can dance. I mean, he really can dance! I have absolutely no rhythm so it has always been hilarious dancing with him. Again, he has mad skills but mostly loves to dance CRAZY to make people laugh. Anyone who has witnessed this can attest to it.

4. He can sing! If you have attended our huge church and have been within a hundred feet of him you have heard him harmonizing with the band.

5. He is an amazing artist. How often do you meet a guy who can dismantle an entire engine and sculpt an eagle out of clay or make a beautiful water color painting of a bison?

6. He is very gifted at the growing of facial hair. Right now he is rocking a crazy mustache that is the envy of many. We can’t go anywhere with out people stopping him to ask for his autograph and to pose for pictures with their babies.

7. He is seriously an amazing husband and I am sure will be an amazing dad once we have our baby in February. I can’t even think about how happy that is going to make me. *cry break*

8. He is the best friend. He will drop anything to help a friend in need, no questions asked and with no expectation of anything in return. He is also super encouraging to his friends with all of their endeavors and loves to help them think of ways to achieve their goals.

9. He is crazy buff and in ridiculously good shape. I don’t know how he manages to be so quick and so strong but it just comes naturally to him. He makes for a great work out partner since you will pretty much never be up to his level. But thats ok because he always encourages you to try harder.

10. I know there will always be new things to try and do with Tim, my very best friend and partner in this crazy journey of life. He is always surprising me with a bit of knowledge offerred in a good conversation with friends or a new fascination with something he heard about online. He inspires me to keep learning and keep growing. He is a perfect example that you really can do anything you put your mind to and I am so thankful to have that in my life.

I am so excited to see what 28 has in store for you, my love! I pray God blesses you over and above anything you could ever imagine and that you are filled with so much joy as you head into this new season in life. I love looking back on where we have come from and looking forward to all that is to come. I love you and Happy Birthday!

Intimate Winter Wedding: Audrey and John

Audrey and John’s wedding was such a sweet way to end our 2012 wedding season. These two had literally the most sincere, beautiful, heartfelt vows Tim and I have ever heard. I may or may not have cried behind my camera during the ceremony. It was one of those weddings where you could palpably feel the love all around the bride and groom. Everyone was either smiling or wiping away tears. To top it all off it was a gorgeous winter day! John requested some infrared photography which was a special project for Tim. We had such a lovely time hanging out with Natasha and Sean for their engagement session. We started by having lunch at Alcove which is one of my favorite restaurants in LA. The food there is just delicious. Needless to say, starting a shoot with a happy belly is a great idea. Next, we headed to a location in Griffith Park which Natasha and Sean had picked themselves. I absolutely love when couples put the thought into their engagement shoots that these two did. Hair and make up by the amazing Ashley Jael. One thing that Tim and I absolutely love is when our clients choose an engagement shoot location that is special to them and reflects their personalities. Mischelle and Chris live in downtown Los Angeles and went above and beyond by giving us a little walking tour of the area! We started at Pershing Square and ended up on the rooftop of their apartment building. It was an overcast day which made for soft, pretty light and Mischelle and Chris just relaxed and enjoyed the time together. We are so looking forward to their wedding next year! Southern California Engagement: Rachel and Andrew

We spent a beautiful Southern California afternoon with Rachel and Andrew during their engagement session and had the best time! These two are so much fun together and fit together so seamlessly. They chose Cal State Long Beach for their engagement session since they first met while attending.
