I met Paul a few years ago in photo class. Who would have thought that I’d be photographing his wedding to then girlfriend Tara all these years later and that our professor, Max Gerber, would be officiating? Well I could not be more pleased that they asked Tim and I to photograph their wedding day!
We had a blast with them at their engagement shoot so we were expecting a great time at their wedding and they certainly did not disappoint. This wedding was the perfect blend of classy, cool, and fun.
It was held at the Ebell Club in Long Beach, California. The Ebell Club originated in 1924 as an exclusive women’s social club. It is a gorgeous building featuring “Churrigueresque-style architecture” and was purchased by Liz Palmer in 2006 after she got married there and realized what a gem it was. She is now the awesome owner and director of events at the Ebell Club and does such a fantastic job! It was truly a pleasure to get to work with her! Paul and Tara also had the amazingness of Robert Poff of Station Identification Entertainment as their deejay and I just have to say he did a spectacular job. He made their day flow smoothly and kept everyone entertained at the same time.
Paul and Tara, your wedding left me feeling so lucky to be able to do what I do. It’s people like you that I dream of working with time and time again in the future. And your love for each other is so sweet to see. As Collin said in his PERFECT toast to you both, when people think of Tara they think of Paul and when people think of Paul they think of Tara-and thats a great thing. You guys just fit together like peanut butter and jelly.
Ever the marine, Paul had his things perfectly in order. The cufflinks were a family heirloom as well as the shoes and dog tags which belonged to his grandfather who was also a marine.
Tim loved that Paul uses a safety razor.
Paul and his brother Colin putting on their Jr Detective badges.
Tara’s dress was so beautiful and full of ruffles!
I really love this photo.
Gotta love a bride who rocks Tom’s. Comfortable, cute, and for a good cause.
Tara, you are STUNNING.
My favorite thing, the First Look!
Don’t they look like royalty?
Their dog, the famous Lucy “Goose” Bennett played a special role in their day.
Paul’s father, Bob Bennett (a classic Christian musician), played a song during the ceremony.
Aside from Tim’s first dance with his mother, this was the coolest mother-son dance I have ever seen!
How many photographers out there can say they photographed the groom cutting the cupcake with a sword? I can!
This little girl was determined!
Paul. In a nutshell.
