I am so excited to be posting the wedding of our BFF/partners in crime Sara and Steve Lucero! These guys are seriously the coolest, most fun, best people we know and we are so blessed to call them friends. We got to see the beginning of their relationship and see it develop (very quickly!) into full blown LOVE. When you know, you know, and these guys knew right away. They are the yin to each other’s yang. Steve is the worship leader for the youth group at High Desert Church and Sara is an awesome wedding photographer. Steve is quietly warm until you get to know him and then he’s quite hilarious and Sara is an outgoing, artsy, goofy girl you feel you have known for years and can talk to about anything. So yeah, we’re pretty stoked that God brought these guys around when he did because we got to plan our weddings together and hang out and laugh way too much all the time!
And plan a rad wedding they did! Sara had a very specific vision of what she wanted her wedding to be and executed it brilliantly. She managed to turn a modern church into something quite beautiful and I think brides will be quite inspired to see what she pulled off. She even managed to turn the dreaded church gym into a darling reception! I’ll let the pictures do the talking.
The day started with getting ready, of course. I loved Sara’s dress! It was a linen-like silk that had the most gorgeous texture—and pockets!
Pretty much my favorite shot of a bride getting her make-up done ever. Many thanks to Martha Davenport of Martha Does Makeup for doing a perfect job.
Sara! You’re adorable. That bridal party isn’t too shabby either.
Okay you’re not just adorable, you’re beautiful!
And a studly groom?? Our job was easy! I loved Tim’s pictures of Steve getting ready to see his bride.
I say this every time and I’ll say it again, I love First Looks.
Steve couldn’t even look at Sara at first. Too gorgeous!
We moved from our First Look location to down town Victorville to take some photos in a building that had been destroyed in a fire. The building, a historical landmark, was torn down just days later! We are so excited to have gotten photos inside.
I loved the girls’ patterned, black tights!
The wedding ceremony opened with a sweet song sung by another talented lady, Jessica Mariano (our wedding photographer!).
Followed by a beautiful dance by Amanda and violin by Steve’s sister.
And this my friends is what Sara’s vision looked like brought to life. I love the drama of the flag banners and the unique positioning of the bridal party using unusual groupings and chairs. Steve built the awesome fence they used as a back-drop and they tied an actual knot around a few of the posts during the ceremony. Sara also hand-crafted each of the bridesmaids bouquets out of fabric!
Note: their officiant decided to take and tweet the first official pic of them as husband and wife. So cool.
Their reception was filled with sweet DIY touches and handmade baked goods by all of their family members.
Rather than having the traditional toast, the couple opted to have each member of their bridal party share a short story about Sara or Steve.
The first dance started out as many others do…
…but took a sudden turn when Just Bieber’s “Baby Baby” came on and the bride and groom surprised everyone with a HILARIOUS choreographed dance.
See how cool these guys are?!
Showing off the bling.
Sara and Steve, we love you guys so much. We can’t wait to hang out more and look forward to growing old with you. Does that sound creepy?
